Our Story

1973
Stuart Frankel & Co. Founded

Stuart Frankel & Co. became a member firm of the NYSE, the first independent brokerage firm offering direct access to the floor.

1987
Black Monday

As clients looked for a trusted trading partner amongst the volatility of the 1987 Black Monday Crash, Stuart Frankel & Co. traded nearly 2% of the NYSE volume on that historic day.

1989
Second Generation

Jeffrey Frankel joined the firm in 1989, and Andrew Frankel joined the firm in 1993. Stuart Frankel & Co. picked up steam as the Mutual Fund industry boomed.

1997
NASDAQ Trading

Stuart Frankel & Co. transitions to trading both Nasdaq and Canadian equities, allowing the firm to transact in dollar neutral and pair trades.

2001
9/11 Fundraiser

On the first business day following the 9/11 attacks, Stuart Frankel & Co. donated all profits to the New York Times 9/11 fund. The firm saw its finest day; raising nearly one million dollars for charity.

2006
European Expansion

Stuart Frankel & Co. becomes a member of Euronext, allowing the firm to offer its clients high touch trading in European Cash Equities.

2008
2008 Financial Crisis

Amidst the volatility of the financial crisis, as well as,  the collapse of Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers,  Stuart Frankel & Co. became a place of safety and trust for its institutional clients.

2010
Stuart Frankel Events

Stuart Frankel & Co. begins offering its clients corporate and government access events, as well as in-person buy-side idea exchanges.

COVID Pandemic

As the financial industry dealt with the volatility of a market sell-off, as well as work from home mandates, Stuart Frankel & Co. continued to act as a trusted and reliable trading partner to its institutional clients.

Our Leadership

Stuart Frankel

Chairman Emeritus

Stuart is a graduate of Syracuse University. He became a member of the New York Stock Exchange in 1969 and founded Stuart Frankel & Co. Inc., the first Direct Access Brokerage firm at the New York Stock Exchange in 1973; his clients included banks, insurance companies, and mutual funds. In 1989 Stuart became the Chairman of the Board. He remains a vibrant part of the company, overseeing executions, offering timely advice, and interacting with clients on a regular basis. He is also on the board of trustees at Syracuse University and the Kravis Center.

Jeffrey Frankel

Co-CEO

Jeffrey brings over 30 years of experience to the firm. In 1989 he joined the firm, operating as a clerk until he was elected president in 1995. He oversees all trading in the US listed and International equities for large institutional clients. Jeffrey graduated from USC with a degree in Finance. After graduation, he worked for Cherry Valley Partners where he learned the equity business, also trading futures and bonds. Jeffrey holds licenses for the Series 7, Series 63, Series 55, Series 24, and Series 14.

Andrew Frankel

Andrew Frankel​

Andrew brings over 27 years of experience to the floor of the NYSE. He joined the firm in 1993, serving as Co-President for over 20 years. Andrew runs international trading as well as domestic trading, while also overseeing all marketing for STFC. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Economics. He started his career with Steinhardt Partners. Andrew holds licenses for the Series 7, Series 63, Series 25, and Series 24.
